Performing Different Types of Pushups

There are many different types of pushups that will work out different areas of your body.

Wide Pushups
With these you will extend your hands further out from your shoulders forming a wider stance. This will workout your chest muscles and give you more definition.

Fist Pushups
This is also known as "knuckle" pushups. Instead of having your hands flat on the ground, you will have your hand in a fist to bear your body weight. These target different areas of the body like the forearm and chest. Your knuckles become tougher and your wrists become stronger. Also, your triceps will work out harder since you have less contact with the floor area forcing your triceps to do more work.

Diamond Pushups
Place your index finger and your thumb together to form a diamond figure with your hands placed on the ground. This concentrates more on your tricep area than your chest.

Incline Pushups
With these pushups, your head should be higher then your feet. These pushups concentrate on the lower chest muscles.

Decline Pushups
These are the exact opposite as incline pushups. Your feet should be higher then your head. You can place your feet on a chair or stool and place your hands on the ground. This concentrates more on the upper chest muscles.
